MATERIAL

Potassium Cloride (KCl)

Potassium Chloride is mainly used for CO2 laser protection windows as an inexpensive disposable material with a low indexand for infrared lenses and prisms when transmission in the 0.3 µm - 20 µm range is desired. Potassium Chloride is soluble in water and polished surfaces must be protected from exposure to moisture. Maximum operating temperature is 400 °C. Maximum available size: 200 mm Dia x 40 mm Thk. Potassium Chloride is produced in large ingots by the Kyropoulos growth method. It cleaves easily. With care it can be polished to a high standard under humidity controlled conditions.
